Windows Support Engineer
Secure-24 is seeking a Mid to Sr. level Windows Support engineer with the ability to both be part of a support team as well as work independently. The group is made up of engineers with varying degrees of experience and technical ability. This person will be expected to hit the ground running and become a contributing team member in the first few weeks. The work is different week to week and sometimes even day to day and being on call is part of the position on a 7 plus week rotation. Candidates are expected to contribute to the overall direction and even Sr. level people will troubleshoot with the more Jr. Team members. The focus is on all things Microsoft which include SQL, Exchange, Active Directory, Microsoft and various customer applications. The size of environments varies as we have varying degrees of customers. The customer environments can range from 100+ servers to 5 servers. We are looking for candidates with strong understanding of many areas of a Windows environment, but are not a “Jack of all trades”. Candidates must have strong experience in a couple of core areas, but cannot be spread too thin and experience in larger enterprise environments is a plus.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support and maintenance of multiple Exchange versions.
- Provide administration, patching, and upgrade support for Wintel Servers, maintain server/network changes database.
- Experience in Exchange migrations
- SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008 maintenance.
- Microsoft Clustering experience.
- Knowledge and troubleshooting capability with high availability solutions.
- Server hardening/security
- Server performance/capacity planning
- Troubleshooting end user application issues
- Basic troubleshooting of Citrix systems and end user issues.
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of Active Directory Systems.
- Maintain all Windows systems.
- Responsible for maintaining customer applications that may require modifications to work in a client server environment
- Responsible for all tuning, monitoring and performance recommendations of the Microsoft systems.
- Provide 2nd level support where needed, including systems diagnostics, systems tuning, and template definitions.

Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of active directory and Group Policy
- Extensive knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (Windows 2000, 2003, 2008), performance monitoring and tuning
- Understanding of Microsoft Exchange is preferred
- Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL is preferred
- Strong understanding of Active Directory maintenance and Server OS maintenance.
- Strong leadership skills to effectively mentor and lead junior level personnel
- Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of complex systems
- Clustering and Active Directory exposure
- Active Directory
- A strong understanding of architecture (Not an architect)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization skills to interact with customers to prioritize work, balance and lead complex projects
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong knowledge and understanding of VB scripting for use within Active Directory environments.
Education and Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science/information Systems or equivalent
- 5+ years experience with Windows 2000 / 2003 / 2008 Servers
- 4 – 10 years experience in managing Microsoft Systems in a 24×7 environment
- 2 – 4 years experience managing mid to enterprise Microsoft Environments. Specialization in Exchange, SQL or Active Directory a bonus.
- Microsoft Certification or equivalent preferred.
